What We Do

Nearly forty years of being involved with some level of leadership has given me insight and experience as well understanding the challenges and joys of leadership. As I reflect on my own leadership journey there are three areas that I believe help leaders thrive, they are calling, character and confidence.

I would love the opportunity to help you thrive and in turn, local churches impacting their communities with the Good News of the Kingdom.

CALLING

As followers of Jesus we are all called. The Greek word used for church is 'Ekklesia' which refers to a 'called-out assembly'. However, individually there are things that God calls us to do, giving us the gifts, talents and abilities to faithfully serve Him. From my experience, what sustains us, in all the vagaries of leadership, is the conviction that God has called us, and not only that, He equips us for the task He has called us to.

We are all gifted in some way. However, as I heard some one say many years ago, 'don't let your gift take you where your character can't'. Whether it's in the political sphere, the Christian world or elsewhere leaders often fail as a result of character flaws. If we are going to faithfully lead God's people or lead in any capacity then matters of integrity, authenticity, consistency, are vital traits that will sustain us, before any gift or talent.

CHARACTER

CONFIDENCE

This is not about self-confidence, but rather we need to maintain and consistent confidence in God and and who He has made us to be. First and foremost, before we think about any leadership responsibility we may have, we are children of God and we have a Father in heaven who cares for us. When leadership gets challenging and when heartache comes, we need to humility to always come back to the truth that 'I am a child of God'. That's the foundation of our confidence.

We have always appreciated their genuine friendship, their integrity, open honest hearts, passionate desire for Jesus, coming alongside others, their strength and wisdom. Jonathan and Alison are strength builders.

Their presence in the room makes all the difference. When they show up, you know it because they impart strength to others wherever they go. Genuine encouragers in the
